About the partner
The first WARPOINT virtual reality park opened in Nicosia. A city with a small economy but high tourist and student potential received a project that became a draw for residents and for the students of two universities next to the venue.
The project's partner, Vladimir, is an entrepreneur with a background in restaurants. Before this he ran a chain of street food restaurants in Russia, and WARPOINT became his largest project and his first fully independent investment. Vladimir has lived in Nicosia for more than seven years and is 37. The park occupies 300 m² in a popular shopping centre next to two universities.
I have lived in Cyprus a long time and wanted to grow on my own. When I realised there was not a single VR arena here, I decided to be the first and show people a completely new level of entertainment. For me it was not just a business but a chance to make a dream real.
Vladimir, WARPOINT partner in Cyprus
Turning the idea into reality
Vladimir had long lived in Cyprus and wanted to build something of his own rather than work for someone else. To legalise his stay he decided to open his own business. His brother, an entrepreneur in Russia, suggested looking at a location in a shopping centre. After studying various franchises Vladimir realised there was not a single VR arena on the island. The chance to be first and bring a new level of entertainment to Nicosia became the starting point for WARPOINT.
The search and the refurbishment
Choosing the site was a serious test: it had to meet every requirement of the shopping centre and local regulations. The space turned out to be completely bare — no electrics, no air conditioning, not even a fire system. In the end the works dragged on for nearly eight months instead of the expected two or three. Strict fire certificates and hefty mall deposits — up to eight months of rent in advance — added further difficulty. All of it demanded significant investment and time, yet the project kept WARPOINT's signature style and was finished to a high standard.
Support from the management company
According to Vladimir, support from the management company played a key role. The design project prepared by WARPOINT saved time and prevented mistakes during the works. Constant consultations with the managers simplified approvals, and control at every stage made it possible to preserve the signature style and bring the project to opening despite the difficulties.
Strengths and the fine points of running a park
Market leader
WARPOINT in Nicosia became the first VR arena in Cyprus, which let Vladimir take an empty niche and establish himself as a pioneer of the industry.
A good location
The park opened in a large shopping centre next to two universities and restaurants, which ensures a steady flow of students and young people.
A strong product
Vladimir chose WARPOINT because the product itself proved a cut above the competition: quality graphics, engaging gameplay and a modern arena design.
A loyalty programme
Stamp cards worked beautifully in Cyprus: every fifth game is free, just like in the local coffee shops. The practice has already brought back dozens of repeat customers.
Active marketing
The partner focuses on social media and video reviews, works with universities and restaurants and hands out vouchers and discounts — all of which helps attract new guests and build a loyal audience.
The partner's best practices
Vladimir shared his experience, and we put together a list of practices that will help you grow your VR park.
- Cutting costs. Choose a space with utilities already in place — it speeds up the launch considerably and lowers the investment.
- Working with communities. Partner with universities, schools and camps to get a steady flow of organised groups.
- The power of reviews. Record video reviews from guests and promote them on social media — it produces a noticeable rise in bookings.
- Offers for parents. Run free demo games: it helps involve adults and turn them into customers.
- A loyalty programme. Use stamp cards: every fifth game is free. The format is familiar to locals and works for repeat visits.
Be flexible. Contractors do not always offer the best solution — look for cheaper and faster options. Build a network of contacts, negotiate, work with the community. That is the key to success.
Vladimir, WARPOINT partner in Cyprus
Vladimir's story shows that even in a new market you can take the leading position if you choose the right product and trust the management company's experience. The first VR arena in Cyprus became not only a successful business but also a draw for students and families, opening a completely new entertainment format for the city.
