The phygital sports federation in Penza supported a WARPOINT ARENA and judo tournament

On 22 November 2024 Penza hosted the region's first phygital tournament in judo and WARPOINT ARENA, organised with the support of the phygital sports federation. Phygital is a new competition format that combines digital and traditional sports disciplines.

The tournament gave participants a chance to show themselves both in virtual reality and on the tatami. It started at the WARPOINT VR arena in the Lev shopping centre, where the teams competed in the “three-dimensional tactical battle” discipline in the WARPOINT ARENA VR shooter. The participants then met on the tatami of the Yama Arashi club, where they continued in judo.

Young athletes born in 2011–2012 from four teams took part:

  • Yama Arashi — coach Maksim Shepelev
  • Tigry — coach Andrey Kuskov
  • Judo 19, two line-ups — coach Pavel Kosyakov

The winners were determined by the combined results in both disciplines: the virtual “three-dimensional tactical battle” and the bouts on the tatami. The results:

  • 1st place — team Yama Arashi
  • 2nd place — team Tigry
  • 3rd place — both line-ups of team Judo 19

The cooperation with the phygital sports federation underlines the role of WARPOINT in creating new formats that bring together traditional sport and digital technology. For WARPOINT this is the first experience in the phygital field, which the company intends to develop actively.
